Ocala Ritz Veterans Village is on Silver Springs Boulevard in Ocala. The historic hotel was built in 1919 but has changed usage throughout the years. It has served as an apartment complex, hotel and troop barracks during World War II. Volunteers of America/Florida, a nonprofit, faith-based agency assumed management in 2011. Veterans Village offers transitional housing where homeless veterans can get a fresh start.
Pioneer Garden Club in conjunction of the Greater Ocala Woman's Club furnished and set up housekeeping, for the studio apartment for the Ritz Veteran's Project. The project was a labor of love for all the members of both clubs. We are happy to be a part of the wonderful program to support our veterans who give so much to protect the freedom of the American people. Pioneer Garden Club continues to help through volunteerism, donations of personal toiletries, and beautification of the property.
According to the South Marion Citizen, Veterans Need You!

Pioneer Garden Club continues to support the Silver Springs State Park Gardens. The four PGC garden responsibilities are:
*Morning Glory Circle - Crossroads Garden
* Daffodil Circle - Osceola Garden
* Camellia and Gloriosa Circle - Reflections Garden
* PGC Silver Springs Committee - Fire and Water Garden
Each year, everyone can come to the park for National Public Lands Day. This year it is September 23, 2023.
Pioneer Garden club partnered with the City of Ocala and other community sponsors to design and construct an Art Park at Tuscawilla Park in 2015. This revitalization effort of the historic Tuscawilla District provides a place for artists to create and display their work in an urban environment.
The members of PGC continue to organize educational exhibits at events such as Earth Fest Celebrations in the Park. The Tuscawilla Park brings nature home to the urban residents living in the Historic Tuscawilla area. Thenatural setting benefits all with a place for recreation, relaxation and cultural events.
The members of PGC continue to plant and maintain gardens such as the Keystone trees, Day lilies, and the flowering Redbud trees.
One of the goals is to Enhance the established Pioneer Garden with an artistic feature for the education of the community.
PGC applies for grant funding from local agencies and State/National Garden Club Federations.
The annual Friendship Gathering is a fund raising event for the Park. Attend the event and invite a friend!
